ČKD Praha DIZ, a.s. has put a new energy source at Lovochemie, a.s. into a trial operation 05.10.2015

On September 25th, 2015, ČKD Praha DIZ, member of the ČKD GROUP, put a modern energy source worth 1.015 billion CZK into trial operation and transferred it to the construction investor, Lovochemie, a.s. The construction of the new fluid boiler with a circulating layer represents the most important environmental construction at Lovochemie, a.s. Moreover, it represents an efficient replacement of the two original powder boilers from the 1960’s by a single boiler with the latest coal combustion technology and with emission parameters that comply with the strictest limits of the valid legislature.

The project of this investment unit included project engineering works, delivery of the given technology, assembly and putting the new fluid boiler with accessories, such as a control and management system, cleaning and emission monitoring, transport and storage of the operation media, compressor station, chemical water treatment plant, backup power supplies and revitalization of the energy production block and of the administrative building, into operation.

“The main added value of this delivery is a highly efficient source that fully complies with the EU emission limits valid from January 1st, 2016. Emissions of all monitored substances will decrease significantly. The most significant reduction applies to sulphur oxides emissions, which will drop, compared to the previous boilers, by more than 5 times to 400 mg/m3. Furthermore, this reduction is accompanied by an increase of the overall energy production efficiency by more than 4%,” said Tomáš Krenc, the ČKD Praha DIZ Project Implementation Director.

New pumping station at Gabčíkovo Dam put into trial operation 01.10.2015

At the end of September this year the renovated pumping station of the locks was put into the trial operation at Gabčíkovo Dam.
The Contract for overall reconstruction of pumping station of the locks, amounting to almost EUR 1,5 million, was signed in February 2015 between ČKD Energy a.s. (Contractor) and Vodohospodárská Výstavba š.p. (Owner).
Our task was to provide during the summer months complete replacement of the existing pipeline for stainless steel pipeline, to replace the original steel tank with a new one (also made of stainless steel) and to ensure the rectification and necessary repairs of the concrete tank, says Mr L. Zimmermann, Commercial and Project Manager of ČKD Energy, a.s. The major risk around the project was possible flood wave that could flood the area of the lower mouth of the locks. Due to this reason it was necessary to prepare an emergency flood plan to ensure the protection of our staff, the dam area and protection of Danube river against any pollution. Fortunately, nothing like that happened and all the works have been done in accordance with the agreed time schedule, added Mr Michael Landsmann, Technical Director of ČKD Energy, a.s.

ČKD ENERGY to supply production line for wood pellets
ČKD ENERGY to supply production line for wood pellets 12.01.2015

Processing of wood starts in the turn of the year in Slovak city of Martin.

ČKD ENERGY has got an interesting export contract in Slovakia. In the framework of ECOEN project the Company will provide the delivery of technology for wood processing to Martin.

„The production line will process the wood and produce the wood pellets or briquettes, which will be then used for power generation. Our Company provides design, documentation, supply of the technology and its installation, commissioning and training of customer´s staff” informed Mr Radek Honomichl, Project Manager of ČKD ENERGY.

The technology itself consists of two parts. The first part of the technology serves for debarking of the wood logs, then the wood is processed by wood chipper. The originated material is further crushed into micro size woodchips. Sawdust can be used without further crushing. The second part of the technology serves for classification and drying of the wood material, for removal of metal parts and subsequent pelletizing or briquetting. The technology has been designed for the capacity of 1,5 to 2 tons of raw wood per hour, depending of type and size of input raw material. Wood pellets will be produced in compacted cylindrical shape of diameter of 6 mm and length of 5 to 30 mm. They will be manufactured either with bark chip admixture or without bark chips (up to 3%). Briquettes will be of block shape with size of 135 x 65 x 80 to 100 mm and density higher than 1000 kg/m3.

ČKD ENERGY continues in reconstruction and modernization of pound locks in Gabčíkovo 07.01.2015

The Company shall participate in the activities also next year.

Under strict supervision of the water works administrator, the Company carried out in the last week of Nov.2014 successfully the dry tests on the inlet and outlet side of the left chamber of the pound lock of Gabčíkovo dam (Slovakia). Consequently the activities of ČKD ENERGY on this specific part of reconstruction have been completed. In November 2014 the Company signed with the state enterprise „Vodohospodárska výstavba“ (being the water works administrator) a new Contract for reconstruction of slots for floating fixing of vessels in the chamber and for reconstruction of ladder grooves in the left chamber of the pound lock.

At the same time, in the end of November 2014, ČKD ENERGY succeeded in electronic auction for construction of new anchoring points for setting the temporary stoplogs on upper and lower mouth of the left chamber. „There appeared certain damage of the bearing on top gate of the right chamber in summer this year. And as the left chamber serves during the period of reconstruction as a dry dock only, the transportation on Danube was disrupted for certain days needed for the exchange of the bearing and for repair of the damaged gate. It caused considerable problems e.g. in the wharfs in Bratislava, where the boats full of foreign tourists had been stacked in the peak summer season“ says Luděk Zimmermann, Project Manager of ČKD ENERGY, explaining the reasons of electronic auction.

The management of the water works administrator therefore decided to modernize the temporary stoplogs in the framework of the present reconstruction of the chamber of the pound lock. „ Our main task will be to design and install a new hydraulic equipment for the setting of the lower and upper part of the temporary stoplogs in front of the top and bottom gate of left chamber of the pound lock. The existing equipment has been in operation for more than twenty years. The Customer, therefore, decided to install a new advanced equipment, to shorten the overall period of the setting of the temporary stoplogs to approx. one hour (since stoplog flooding by the vessel from its initial position), added Mr Zimmermann.
